"Mauna Loa's flexibility made it possible for me to train while keeping my job." - Greg Fredericks

About Mauna Loa Helicopters

We are proud to be one of the United States’ top helicopter flight training schools, with three island locations graduating scores of professional pilots now employed in the industry.  The key to our success is the success enjoyed by our graduate instructors in finding good paying jobs even in difficult economic times.  From Alaska to the Gulf, from Saudi Arabia to India, Mauna Loa graduates are involved in challenging and rewarding pilot careers.

The Mauna Loa Helicopters Experience

Since 1992, Mauna Loa Helicopters has been on a quest to provide the finest flight training environment available.  We’ve worked hard, upgraded our equipment and aircraft, went through a long and comprehensive accreditation process, and slowly improved over the years, constantly seeking ways to make the training process more efficient and effective.  Now our graduates enter the job market enjoying the confidence and industry respect of having trained at a school with a top-notch reputation.

Mauna Loa operates 15 aircraft, has a low student-to-instructor ratio and experiences more flyable days per year than nearly any other location nationwide.  Hawaii’s varied terrain and airspace translate into a more complete training environment.  Our instructors are seasoned professionals who attend annual recurrent training and take pride in assuring that each student receives the individual attention needed to become a successful graduate.

Wherever possible, we hire our graduates as instructors. This assures you the continuity of training and invaluable knowledge of local wind and weather that add up to a superior training experience.
