Our Aircraft
Mauna Loa Helicopter Flight Schools use the reliable and popular Robinson R-22 and R-44. These aircraft are renowned for their excellent flying qualities and are loved by a legion of pilots. We also have a Cessna 172 for pilots interesting in getting their fixed-wing ratings. Our knowledgeable and experienced pilots will provide you flight training and charters of the highest caliber.

Flight Simulator
We Have The Tools You’ll Need
One of our goals is to encourage you to form good habits in both your training and your flying. Getting Flight Simulator time is an integral part of your instrument training. Just ask the pros. For your convenience, Mauna Loa Helicopters has an FAA approved Flight Training Device (FTD) available for instrument training. Simulator training leads to greater proficiency and also saves you time and money. Instrument currency and proficiency checks can be completed in the simulator. Up to 30 hours of training in the simulator can be credited towards our Instrument Course.
The FLYIT simulator comprises a helicopter cockpit with dual controls mounted in front of a large screen that covers almost your entire field of vision. The IFR instrument panel is configured to look like our R22 IFR trainers allowing for a seamless transition between the simulator and the actual aircraft. The simulator has a database of more than 20,000 airports and instrument approaches can be practiced to perfection before they are performed in the helicopter.
Computer Monitoring System
A qualified instructor can monitor your progress and load custom environmental situations and conditions through our advanced computer monitoring systems.
