Success Story - Drew Stringer

Drew Stinger stands in front of an Evergreen Medevac helicopter

Who is your current employer?

Evergreen Helicopters Incorporated

What kind of helicopter(s) do you fly?

Bell 214ST/412EP/212

Is there anything particularly challenging or unique about your current job?

There is a variety of flying that we get to do, which include Hoisting, NVG, Fire, EMS and Logistics. I am currently in the Philippines flying a BH214ST.

Do you feel Mauna Loa adequately trained you for the real world?

I feel that Mauna Loa offers the best “real world” training in the industry and have heard nothing but compliments about the abilities of its graduates. So…Yes.

What did you like best about your MLH training experience?

The variety of experience that is gained at MLH is unparalleled. Training out here gives you experience in the mountains at high DA’s and in the valleys, Class G, D, C and B airspace, over water, external loads and photo flights. You also get comfortable flying in high winds and in unpredictable weather. Plus, you’re in Hawaii and have the opportunity to train / instruct on three different islands.

Would you recommend Mauna Loa Helicopters to others?

It is the only school that I recommend.

Other comments:

MLH has a reputation for putting out good, well-rounded pilots into the industry. I believe that MLH instructors are not just in it for the hours. They have fun, study hard and truly care about the progress of their students. The learning environment is healthy and everyone has the right attitude about their education.
