Success Story - Laurent Barthes

Laurent Bathes spends his days flying around the Swiss Alps

Who is your current employer?

Eagle Helicopter AG, Switzerland

What kind of helicopter(s) do you fly?

Astar AS 350 B3

Is there anything particularly challenging or unique about your current job?

Flying in the alps is gorgeous but very challenging. I work in a small company but we do a lot of different things like sling loading, VIP flights, films, heliskiing, The company operates also a Super Puma all across Europe, doing mostly heavy lift. In one or two years, I’ll fly Super Puma as a copilot.

Do you feel Mauna Loa adequately trained you for the real world?

Laurent Barthes - Helicopter PilotI had the chance to do some flight instructions in Kona and to fly tours in Kauai. This gave me a solid experience to start my career.

What did you like best about your MLH training experience?

The good atmosphere at school, between the students and the flight instructors and all the office staff. Every instructor tries to give the best training for each student. Flying in Hawaii is very challenging and very exciting. The diversity of the terrain on all the Hawaiian islands is a plus.

Would you recommend Mauna Loa Helicopters to others?

Yes I would. I am very happy with the experience I had at Mauna Loa Helicopters.
